From top to bottom! About Ireland and social and economical situation, well, I'm from Portugal... no more needs to be said. Petty much the same dark hole. The fist time I was aware of all this was exactly after a Primordial concert in my country, some years ago. A friend of mine told how much the bands received for that particular concert. I was shocked! (and a bit ashamed, I confess, for all the bitching about the tickets price) We were not talking about some garage band that plays everywere they can, just for a couple of beers. We were talking about people that acomplished a lot, that had given proves of their hard work and deserve to collect the fruits of it. And the main problem is we don't see where does our money goes. We pay 30 euros to see a concert on a sack in the middle of nowhere, see 150 more around us, do the math, add cachet and privileges, and picture the bands living the glamorous live of a rock star. Well, tell us, show us, that's not the truth! Otherwise we won't know! I just loved to read this! From top to bottom!

I had heard about the cut that venues take from merch sales, but I didn't know it was such a large percentage. As someone who saw Primordial on the Paganfest, I can honestly say they deserved to be headlining that tour. Can't be too far off though. Didn't know about the merch? Eddie Vedder mentioned in Grunge is Dead that the Ticketmaster fight originated from Pearl Jam disputing Ticketmaster's right to take the large portion of the merch cut that they did. Of course, large money won out in the end, with the help of pussy hypocrite bands like Green Day that more or less lent their support to TM.(i don't know the details) It's obvious what would happen here. should say more but want to go.
